Take one sunny meadow, place it near lake Åsnen and let the sun shine. Then throw an apple core over your shoulder and let the pips grow. When the small tree gets bigger you carefully inoculate a grafting-shoot from your favourite apple tree. Keep going year after year until you have created apple trees, pear trees and plum trees along all paths and roads, fields and meadows. Now you have your own wild meadow orchard.
Is it hard to resist the call of a hawfinch? Or are you captured by the nightly calls from a marsh warbler or a great bittern? Then you should head for Åsnen. The shallow lake and its surrounding nature is populated by warblers, waders, terns and birds of prey – a true abundance of magnificent birds.
When you visit Huseby bruk, you visit Swedish history. Knowledgeable guides tell you about past times, and when the tour is over you can walk through the gardens or sit down for a refreshment in Frökens Café & Restaurant.
With a shoreline over 700 km, you will find lots of bathing places in the Åsnen area. Find a list of them here.
Pick up your back pack and tie your walking boots. Nature is only a step away.
